Why We Choose PVC

The industry-standard material for transparent business cards

Our transparent business cards are made from 500-micron optical-grade PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC has become the industry standard for business card production, largely thanks to its exceptional clarity, light weight, and high resistance to everyday wear and tear. Unlike paper cards, PVC doesn't crack, tear, or absorb moisture. Colours printed with UV technology sit on the top layer rather than soaking into the material, so print quality holds up far longer.

Water Resistance

Fully Waterproof

PVC forms a natural barrier against moisture and water. Cards carried in a wallet, handed out in the rain, or passed between wet hands keep their print quality with no smudging or fading.

UV Resistance

High UV Resistance

Because UV print inks bond chemically to the PVC surface, colours stay vivid for years without fading, even under direct sunlight. Card colour stays bright even when left on a windowsill or handed out at outdoor events.

Scratch and Bend Resistance

High Resistance

500-micron PVC is flexible yet won't crack. It holds its shape and surface through rubbing against other cards in a wallet, getting jostled in a bag, or an accidental bend. The glossy surface option adds an extra layer of scratch resistance.

Stored properly (away from direct sunlight and extreme heat), transparent PVC cards can keep their day-one appearance for 3 to 5 years — three to four times longer than standard paper cards.

Glossy

A highly reflective glossy surface makes colours look more vivid and deep. It delivers striking clarity in visual-heavy designs, logos, and photos, and acts as an extra protective layer that boosts scratch and moisture resistance. Since it can reflect light in bright environments, keep readability in mind.

Semi-Transparent (Frosted)

The frosted surface is a balanced option between full transparency and a matte look. It scatters light to create a soft, modern aesthetic. It pairs perfectly with minimalist designs and light-toned prints, and is a favourite for double-sided designs where both the front and back show through evenly.

Storage and Care Tips

To keep your card looking like new for a long time

    Keep cards away from spots with direct sunlight, such as windowsills or a car dashboard; prolonged UV exposure can yellow PVC over time.

    High temperatures (above 60°C) can cause PVC to deform slightly, so avoid leaving cards in a hot car for long periods.

    Using a card case or holder prevents the surface from rubbing against other hard objects and minimises the risk of scratches.

    If the surface gets dirty, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth or a screen-cleaning wipe instead of harsh chemical cleaners; alcohol-based products can dull the shine of a glossy surface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. PVC doesn't absorb water or moisture. Wet hands, rainy weather, or a drink spill won't damage the print or the surface of the card. With paper cards, this kind of contact causes warping and print damage.

Because we use UV printing technology, the ink bonds chemically to the PVC surface and resists fading well. That said, no material has infinite UV resistance — prolonged direct sunlight (leaving a card on a car dashboard, for instance) can cause slight colour shifts over the years. For cards kept indoors and in a wallet, fading is practically never noticeable.

This largely depends on your design and brand identity. For colour-rich, visually dense designs, a glossy surface makes the colours look more vivid. For sleek, minimalist designs — especially typography-focused work — a matte surface looks more sophisticated. The frosted surface sits between the two and is ideal for those seeking a modern, clean aesthetic with a balanced feel.

Stored properly (in a wallet or card holder, away from extreme heat and direct sunlight), transparent PVC cards can keep their original print quality for 3 to 5 years. That's well beyond the average lifespan of standard paper cards. With heavy use (frequent handling, an outer pocket, and so on), that span may be slightly shorter.

If the surface gets dirty, a soft damp cloth or a screen-cleaning wipe will do the job. Don't use harsh abrasive cleaners or solvents with a high alcohol content; these can dull the shine of a glossy surface in particular. For ordinary dust and light marks, a dry cloth works fine too.
